Ernie came to me from one of my 2nd grade students during the school year 1984-85. That was the only year in Chetek that I taught something other than kindergarten. Ernie disappeared one day, only to be brought back a week or so later by the mother of the student who took him. The student told her mom that I had given Ernie to her, but the mom didn't buy the story!
